This Spring Term, Ecclesbourne Primary School brought learning to life with a dynamic and inspiring FOBBS quiz competition! Powered by the Figures of Black British Society app, the challenge invited pupils to dive deep into the lives and legacies of trailblazing Black Britons — from changemakers and scientists to artists and activists — through an engaging series of research-based questions.
Across the school, students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity, showing just how powerful inclusive education can be when it sparks genuine interest. In total, a fantastic 72 quiz entries were submitted — a clear sign of just how invested the children were in exploring underrepresented stories.
This week, in a special assembly, our founder Kayleigh Oliver joined Ecclesbourne to announce the winners. Huge congratulations go to:
Joshua in Planets
Bilan in Shuttles
Zayn in Satellites
Aiza in Mars

Each of these brilliant students impressed us with their thoughtful answers, attention to detail, and commitment to learning. We also want to give a big shout-out to the two most engaged classes: Satellites and Mars, who submitted the highest number of entries.
The FOBBS team would like to thank every student, parent who supported and teacher who took part. A big thank you also good to Miss Sorenson who helped coordinate the event with Kayleigh.
Competitions like these are more than just fun — they’re a powerful reminder that history belongs to everyone, and that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories they learn.
We can’t wait to run even more exciting challenges in the future. Until then — keep discovering, keep dreaming, and keep being bold!
