In order to be added to the FOBBS content, we need individuals to have a heritage of Black and be British.
Heritage
Individuals may be featured within the app by being identified as Black British people. This will be “British citizens of either Black African descent, or of Black African-Caribbean (sometimes called “Afro-Caribbean”) background and include people with mixed ancestry from either group.”
What do you mean by “Black”?
People of dark-skinned* African heritage.
*Although we are classifying dark-skinned people as Black, this does not mean that we disagree with anyone of Black heritage that chooses to identify themselves as Black.
Who can be classed as “British”?
To be classed as British, they would have been born in the UK or achieved British citizenship.
This definition will be used for the initial prototype. It will be reviewed when developing the MVP and future iterations.
What are some achievements that will make an individual qualify for FOBBS?
The individuals will also have to have achieved one or more of the following:
- Achieved an award from the British empire
- Be a recognised individual in their chosen field. These are some of the fields:
- Business
- Sports
- Music
- Film & TV
- Education & training
- Literature & writing
- Arts
